Kentucky Special Elections November 2nd, 2021

Three important special elections are coming up in Kentucky, on Tuesday, November 2 to fill vacancies in the General Assembly. You can learn more with this voter guide, powered by our partner at iVoterGuide.

Garrard, Jessamine, Mercer, Washington, and a portion of Fayette Counties are filling the vacancy in Senate District 22. The seat became vacant when Republican Senator Tom Buford died unexpectedly in early July.


SD 22 candidates: 
Donald Douglas (R ) vs. Helen Bukulmez (D)

Adair and Taylor Counties will be filling the seat for House District 51. The vacancy resulted from the death of Republican Representative John "Bam" Carney in July.


HD 51 candidates:

Michael Pollock (R ) vs. Edwin Rogers (D) vs. Timothy Shafer (I)

 

Jackson County gets to fill the House District 89 seat, which became vacant after the resignation of Republican Representative Robert Goforth.


HD 89 candidates:

Timmy Truett (R )  vs. Maetinee Suramek (D)
